AGRU America Introduces PVDF Round Bar in Imperial Sizes

Georgetown, South Carolina, September 26, 2019 — AGRU America, Inc. is introducing PVDF round bar in imperial sizes up to 4” diameter, thanks to an impressive investment in manufacturing capability.

AGRU’s investment in new tooling will enable the company to manufacture and size its PVDF round bars to exact imperial measurements. As the new sizing capabilities are introduced beginning in the fourth quarter of 2019, U.S.-based customers will experience several cost and efficiency benefits. For example, customers will be able to purchase AGRU PVDF round bars in smaller sizes measured precisely in imperial units, reducing the overall effort required to fabricate the bars for use. The availability of imperial-sized PVDF round bars will also help improve profitability for customers by reducing material waste, without compromising the high-performance characteristics customers have come to expect from AGRU’s fluoropolymer materials.

“AGRU’s ongoing investments in and development of its fluoropolymer products is a significant sign of the company’s commitment to the product line,” says Michael Krauss, Vice President of CPL and Semi-Finished Products at AGRU America. “Our ability to deliver PVDF round bar in imperial sizes will translate into improved efficiencies for our U.S.-based customers, especially those working with rounds bars at smaller dimensions.”

AGRU polyvinylidene fluoride, or PVDF, is a highly non-reactive thermoplastic fluoropolymer used in applications requiring the highest purity as well as applications that require high resistance to solvents, acids, and hydrocarbons. Produced from the highest-quality resin, Kynar 740, PVDF combines high-performance mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties with excellent chemical resistance. In addition, it possess radiation resistance, which makes it ideal for high-end applications in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, life science, and photovoltaic industry.

“Companies internationally have already taken advantage of the high chemical resistance of AGRU PVDF,” says Krauss. “Our materials are responsible for specialized tank construction and lining for pipes and system parts and across the globe. PVDF has only recently been introduced by AGRU in the United States, and we are proud to be the principal movers of this multi-purpose material.”

AGRU introduced fluoropolymers to its product line in 2015. Today, AGRU is one of the leading international producers of round bars, welding rods, and plastic sheets in PE, PP, PVDF, FEP, and PFA. The company will offer PVDF round bar in limited sizes beginning in the fourth quarter of 2019, with complete product availability by the end of the first quarter in 2020.
