AGRU Brings XXL HDPE Pipe Production to Nevada

AGRU manufactures the largest solid-wall HDPE pressure pipes in the United States, up to 138 inches (3,500 mm) in diameter, to support large-scale water and wastewater pipelines, irrigation networks, industry, mining, power plants, data centers, and the budding hydrogen economy.

FERNLEY, NV, October 8, 2026 — AGRU America, Inc. today celebrated the grand opening of its newest pipe production facility in Fernley, Nevada. The $65 million, state-of-the-art facility, AGRU’s sixth manufacturing plant in the United States, will help meet growing demand for AGRU XXL high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes. Engineers increasingly turn to XXL HDPE pipes for high-volume-flow designs because of their exceptional durability, flexibility, corrosion resistance, leak-free joints, seismic resistance, and ease of installation.

The new facility will double AGRU’s pipe production capacity in the United States and create more than 20 new jobs by the end of 2026. The plant sits across the street from AGRU’s original Fernley plant, which opened in 2008, supports production for AGRU Lining Systems, and won the 2023 Existing Industry Award in Manufacturing Excellence from Northern NV Now (formerly EDAWN). Fernley will also host an expanded distribution warehouse for AGRU PE/PP sheet stock and PE fittings.

“We have seen a piping boom in the United States in recent years as municipalities move to rehabilitate or replace aging water and wastewater piping systems,” said Natasha Arguijo, Vice President of Piping Systems at AGRU America. “I’m thrilled by this expansion and our growing production capacity to help meet demand for AGRU Piping Systems and XXL Piping Systems.”

AGRU works closely with project stakeholders, providing extensive logistics, product, and technical support.

“We see ourselves as solution providers,” said Matthew Danysh, Piping Systems Technical Manager at AGRU America. “That means not only creating the products but also offering our extensive knowledge and experience with these piping materials to help achieve a successful project.”

Thanks to their durability and flexibility, HDPE pipes give engineers and installers more options. Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) routes pipe beneath obstacles such as sensitive habitats, and compressed fit lets crews insert HDPE pipe into existing lines for low-footprint rehabilitation.

“Fernley is excited to continue to welcome AGRU America, a global leader in innovative geosynthetic and environmental solutions, to our community!” said Fernley Mayor Neal E. McIntyre. “Their Grand Opening marks a new chapter of local jobs, sustainable growth, and economic opportunity. This is more than a new business; it’s an investment in our city’s future. Let’s celebrate this exciting milestone together!”

“Water is the biggest part of this story, but it isn’t the only one,” said Chris Eichelberger, who will succeed Robert L. Johnson, President/CEO of AGRU America, retiring after 30 years of service. Chris will become President/CEO of AGRU America on November 1, 2026. “Communities across the country are also contending with failing wastewater infrastructure, and sectors from mining to power generation need pipelines they can count on. Fusion welding joins HDPE pipe into a monolithic, leak-free pipeline. With direct production of our engineering plastics, including geosynthetics and piping systems, in the East and West, we are answering the call to rebuild American infrastructure.”

“AGRU’s continued investment in Fernley is another strong example of the economic growth and opportunity we’re creating across Nevada,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “This $65 million expansion will strengthen Nevada’s manufacturing sector, create new jobs, and bring even greater investment to Northern Nevada. I’m proud to join AGRU and the Fernley community as we celebrate this important milestone and their continued commitment to our state.”

“AGRU has been known in the United States for decades as a leader in geosynthetic lining systems,” said Mr. Johnson. “Our strategic pipe production expansion in Fernley comes just 9 years after the opening of our first pipe facility in Charleston and signals our commitment to being the leading authority and manufacturer of engineering plastics in North America.”
